New Hakko FD210-01 downgraded FX888 Analog version
« on: December 07, 2014, 02:05:39 pm »
I thought this was interesting so I decided to share it.

It appears here in Japan Hakko has released a downgraded version of the FX888 Analog.
It is called the Hakko My Pen FD210-01  It uses a different handpiece than the FX888 and has a finer looking tip.

Unfortunately it is intended to be used as a wood burner. I'm not too sure on the details since it's all in Japanese.  It also lacks temperatures on the adjustment dial. It only has numbers 1-10

I thought it interesting because it looks just like the FX888 Analog version except it is Orange.  Check out the pictures attached at the bottom.

Anyhow just found it while looking for other stuff on the internet  and couldn't find anything about it in English so I decided to post here.

Here are the specs.

I'm not into wood burning but I can only say that color scheme looks very pretty on it. It has sort of a vintage feeling to it.

That said, I expect it to be top quality.

The price in US dollars is about $82 at the current rate. It's 10,000 yen, more or less.

Yeah. I could care less about wood burning too. Just when I first found it I thought it was a soldering iron.

After doing the research for making this post I found out that even though it looks like you could connect a 907 iron to it, the voltage is only 13V instead of 26V.  :-[

Really they are only using the case, which is a very nice case. Sadly, they ruined the feeling of the FX-888 when they made the digital version without a knob. Now instead of retro it looks retarded.
