new killer scope in town - a true game changer from R&S - RTB2002 & RTB2004

After quick comparison of the data sheets I found two significant differences:
1) RTB2 Series has additional trigger types: runt, rise time, fall time
2) RTB2 Series, number of active measurements: 8
I hope at least 1) will also find its way into the RTB2K firmware.

Maybe that was updated at some point in the RTB2000 firmware after earlier versions of the RTB2000 marketing info were published. This RTB2000 datasheet Version 09.00, January 2019 shows Msample values which match the RTB2 Version 01.01, November 2024 values.

And yes, the FW better come out somehow officially or otherwise. The distributor I bought from way back during the RTB2k release promo no longer exists, so unless the company that bought them is willing to help a random non-account customer from 7.5 years ago I'm out of luck.

I think will be enough to ask here and someone will post the new fw. to be available for those who need it.

Dear Hotze, I think your wish is already coming true :) On the web page of [Corrected] Batterfly (already referred to above) it is already confirmed that RTB2k users also get these firmware upgrades.
Whether existing RTB2k users will be able to install all future updates of the 'new' RTB2 is something we will find out over time... But, to be honest, it seems to me that this 'new' model is fully (or almost fully) hardware identical, and as long as no other 'commercial' barrier is introduced, we should!
The introduction of this new model leaves me with a strange feeling. On the one hand, as an existing RTB2k user, it seems to confirm my device is still up to date and will not be materially updated for some time to come, and reading that "This firmware will also work on the Rohde & Schwarz RTB2000, which shows that R&S is highly interested in long-term customer engagement and a high life-time value of the products." gives hope that (firmware) support for the RTB2k is continued.
On the other hand, I keep thinking, why this update? Is this only a change of name of an existing device without any material change ?!?
Best, Rudi

I quickly glanced through the brochure and specs, but I see almost no differences at all with the previous RTB scopes (except that segmented memory is now standard, not an option, and that there is a new model number printed on the instrument's front). I am quite sure I must have overlooked other things, but I am still wondering if there are any substantial updates here.

For example this:
The new Rohde & Schwarz RTB 2 oscilloscope is MSO-ready, meaning no additional license is needed to utilize the 16 digital channels.
This enables seamless integration of both digital and analog signals, making it ideal for mixed-signal analysis.
In the past they dream to sell an RTB for 8000Euro with all licence, but nobody bought it. So they sold an xmas special price of 4000Euro with licence for free included.
But even this is expensive and they can not made all the past buyer angry only by made the RTB cheaper. So they give it a new paint and offer now
more features for the same price, make it effectively cheaper.
It is the marketing department. ;D
However it is nice that it is possible to use the firmware. I did not expect it. I thought there will never comes a new firmware even if they had a not so
short buglist for the RTB. So it is a good surprise.
Or we can think in the other direction. Bottom up. I these days a scope is defined by 90% of the firmware in CPU and in the FPGA. You can made
a better scope by invest developing hours for the programmer. Expecially if you believe that many feature not in the RTB that easily could be there, but
preserved for the more expensive scopes. If this is true they should ask for money for the update of give the basis update for free that will offer
the possibility to buy more expensive features in future. We will see. 8)
