alturastheking, thanks for the heads up!
The new firmware is on the R&S website (if you have a login

) but only on the page of the new RTB2, not (yet) on the page for the RTB2000. But it works nevertheless, and the new revision is 3.00 for both old and new instruments, so its nice this is on par.
Having just a spare hour before going to work, I installed the new firmware. As expected, we go from 6 to 8 measurement positions, get new gated measurements, and Runt and Risetime trigger modes. All nice.
I atach some screenprints below that show where new functionality and settings are. Gated measurements are indicated by square brackets [] in the measurement and statistics views. Can be set in percentages, or in time (like uS, relative to trigger pint, I assume).
Nice. Also, in the measurement selectrions screens, it shows (G1) for gated measurement. Where does the '1' come from? No idea! Can we have several gates?
Installation went smooth, and we get a new splash screen that is not showing RTB2004 anymore, but a new "R&S RTB 2 SERIES OSCILLOSCOPE". Brand new instrument for the same money ;-)
BUT.... fir the first time in life I am encountering some nasty bug on the RTB, it seems. When taking screenshots, the device takes some 30-40 seconds, it seems! And I got several disk busy arrors at some point too. Tried different USB thumb drives, always the same issue. If I go to settings and chose to have screenshots to be saved to internal memory, it still takes unusually long. Do others have the same experience?!?
Best, Rudi
