New miniature AC and DC clamp meter - BSIDE UX1
« on: April 18, 2026, 03:08:13 pm »

Aliexpress: https://aliexpress.com/item/1005012011073593.html

https://bsidemeter.com/products/bside-ux1-digital-clamp-meter

Specs are quite nice. Probably a rebrand, but not from Zoyi/Zotek or Mestek.

The OWON CM2100 can record data, has Bluetooth, and comes with a smartphone app, which makes it about a thousand times better for a similar price.  ;)

There is also UX2 model with 200A max, but I cant understand does it have 6.000A lower range with 1mA resolution or only 6.00A with 10mA resolution?
Description on banggood says
Clamp current
UX1: AC/DC 6 A, 60 A, 100 A; resolution 0.1 A
UX2: AC/DC 6 A, 60 A, 100 A, 200 A; resolution 0.1 A

but on the pictures in functional parameters table we can see 0.001A resulution for UX1 and 0.01A resolution for UX2
UX2 seems to have very nice thin jaws, but if it didn't have 1mA resolution on 6A range - its not so interesting

Can anybody explain this? UX1 here.
Multi-meter and a clamp on the same cable, working electric kettle.

Now put the clamp meter on one of the cables going to/from the multimeter and see what happens.

Typically a "line splitter" is used with clamp-on ammeters to measure mains device's current.
Inside, they have a split run of the neutral and hot wires, as well as a 10-turn loop for reading x10 higher for low-level measurements. Many companies make them.
It would be safer than bare wires. As long as the clamp jaws fit the aperture - which is sure to be a problem here.

edit: added a pic of the internals of a line splitter.
One aperture has on each side: Neutral or Hot conductor. PE is assumed to have no significant current I think.
Other aperture has 10 turns to give a 10x current reading, e.g. 10mA reads 100mA for small measurements.
It's important the clamp meter's jaws can fit around the side. But the UX1,2 need to have small jaws, so I doubt they can work with a usual line splitter and something custom (wires split) would need to be made.

Seems pretty nice. With a smaller clamp size/volume, it's way easier to work in tight spaces. I wonder why there aren't as many clamp models that go this way.

I have a UT210E. It's a nice meter, but I found its clamps to a bit bulky on some scenarios.

But the main problem with this 'miniature' clamp meter is that its clamp is too small and does not fit any standard current splitter :(

It's trivial to build your own line-splitter, if you can live without the 10x range.
