Okay, I did a very quick check for ripple using the usb C input. I'm using a relatively cheap Amazon Basics 100W USB wall charger.
Under load, the ripple is negligible. I used a 1A load and varied the voltage from 1V to 20V.
I also compared it with the ripple from the output of my Rigol DP832 power supply and I couldn't see any difference.
But as you stated, it might depend on the quality of the source.

Nah, the voltage will go through all sorts of inductors/capacitors on the way to the ouput. Your source would have to seriously messed up to make a noticeable difference.

If source does not matter, then ripple is not a concern.

You should get one. They are cheap enough.
Personally, I like the flip screen. I also have the miniware power supply and while it's well built, the LCD screen is very small.
