HPAK 54845A fails calibration with "tail adj"

Never seen this failure before. Scope is now repaired. It had a bad A150-0005 RF relay in the attenuator which was causing problems @ 20mV/DIV and below and was replaced, then after repairing the attenuator it was getting this error. Turned out to be a bad A/D converter. I'm curious if anyone has any insight as to what "tail adj" means?

The affected channel appeared to be working perfectly, otherwise.

Maybe there is an adjustable current source in an input differential amplifier?
