NEW - Siglent X-Series Oscilloscopes and Arb Waveform Generators
« on: September 02, 2015, 03:02:26 am »
You all probably have heard that Siglent has released a new series of oscilloscopes, waveform generators and a couple of LAN enabled versions of their SPD3303 series power supplies.   If not have a look here.

100 MHz Oscilloscopes

200 MHz Oscilloscopes

Waveform Generators

Our web guy has yet to load the power supply info.

Prices are on the website with each product.  There's a video presentation on each there too.
We hope to have demo units next week for Aussie customers.

I wonder if that company is going to name change into Sigsight.

No. Is it going to Sigroy... ;D

Interesting.
English GUI wasn't available in the SDS3054 I tried at the Siglent factory in China.

Is it yours rf-loop?

No, no. Just picture from web.

It was just  joking with names because @Neganur start it.... "Sigsight - Keysight / Siglent - Agilent." But I di not like Keysight so I name it time ago to Keyshit. But then... Sigsight is not fun because Siglent - Keyshit go for Sigshit... and it is not fun... so I find Sigroy (Siglent - LeCroy) better.

KeyShite sounds better if you ask me (The British english version of shit). But Sigroy does sound better. :D I have to admit tho that i am getting used to the Keysight name a bit more, still does not sound as nice as Agilent or the wanky AM modulation envelope logo does not look as nice. If you want it to sound nice just google up the list of names that was proposed to rename Agilent into, you will think that Keysight is actually a pretty good name after you read how bad the others are.

Okay back to the real topic.

These Siglents do look like pretty nice stuff, but the new Rigol Z series is going to be tough competition to it since it looks like its the same thing except much cheaper.

Like HeaP, a moniker in common currency 30 years ago. Back then it was entirely undeserved, HP having an extremely good reputation for supporting its customers above and beyond the call of duty. Now, in the post Fiorina/Hurd/Apotheker world, I'm less certain.
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.
Glider pilot's aphorism: "there is no substitute for span". Retort: "There is a substitute: skill+imagination. But you can buy span".

For those of you who would like to see a demonstration of Siglent's EasyWave arbitrary waveform software you might want to check on this video:

FYI, I will have one of the new X-Series scopes this afternoon.
Will do a quick first impressions video.
Compare with the Rigol 2000 series perhaps?

Should defilitely be an interesting comparison Dave.
Here's Siglent's take on it from the info they gave us.  Would be great to have your view.
Prices here in Australia are within 1% of the USA as well.  Here they are:

http://www.triotest.com.au/shop/siglent/3816-siglent-sds1102x-digital-oscilloscope-100mhz-1gsas-2-channel.html

http://www.triotest.com.au/shop/siglent/3817-siglent-sds1102x-digital-oscilloscope-100mhz-1gsas-2-channel.html

http://www.triotest.com.au/shop/siglent/3818-siglent-sds1102x-digital-oscilloscope-100mhz-1gsas-2-channel.html

http://www.triotest.com.au/shop/siglent/3819-siglent-sds1102x-digital-oscilloscope-100mhz-1gsas-2-channel.html

Here's Siglent's comparison table below.  It's banner spec stuff. Interested in your view of the UI and digging into the guts of the features.
Cheers,
Charlie

I hope it's ready for your critical eye, my sources are unsure if they are quite ready for "primetime".  :-//
AFAIK the GUI is very similar to the SDS2000 series however I'm unsure if it is the older V1 firmware or the latest V2 beta.  :-//

I should have my SDS1202X by mid next week.  :)

Looking forward to your vid Dave, good, bad or otherwise.

I love it how they conveniently leave out the sample rate!
1GS vs 2GS on the Rigol.
Looking good so far though, although the claimed 60,000wfs update rate is pretty bogus. Only applies to Dot mode (not the normal vector mode), single channel, and on a single timebase setting (not uncommon).
The variable intensity display is very nice, on par or even better than the Rigol.

No firmware issues yet, seems solid.

I have one SDX1202X.

Segmented memory speed is same as big Brother SDS2000, maximum speed 500000 segment/s.
(max 1024 segment)

Also same always bacround working history memory up to 80000 wfm FIFO. (exept if segmented memory acquire is in use)

Also intensity grading works somehow with lower horizontal speeds.

As seen here. (carrier 50kHz, modulating AM with 100Hz, (over mod 120%))
(ref to previous images with SDS2k old firmwares  and SDS2k Rev2.0 beta test)

This is SDS1202X

I drive a LEC (low el. consumption) BEV car. Smoke exhaust pipes - go to museum. In Finland quite all electric power is made using nuclear, wind, solar and water.

Same version. It looks like it is first version which has been approved outside the factory. (and too early - agen. But not so badly as with SDS2000 first units)

Also there is perhaps problem in Average and Eres modes. (Not have enough time for look these more now, first need deeply with lab works inspect if very base things are ok... ADC sampling, Analog front, timing, basic triggers etc..

The bigger question is: does it decode only what is on screen or the entire memory? Decoding only what is on screen has proven pretty useless to me.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

No we loaned Dave the standard SDS1202X.  The demo we got from Siglent did not have the AWG option fitted.  The Decode option on it is the 30 limited trial uses.

No, just the normal one. It has the connector on the back though.
