Title: New Tektronix 2000B Series Oscilloscope
Post by: FaultlineAudio on January 30, 2014, 04:14:25 pm
I just ready to order a new Rigol DS2202 oscilloscope for my bench and then Tektronix introduced their new 2000B series scopes.

The Tektronix is slightly more expensive than the Rigol but they do have a great reputation and the 2000B series seems to be an impressive design.

I've only seen a few reviews on the 2000B, all of which are fairly good, does anyone have one of these new scopes? How do you like it.

Dave:  Do you have any plans on reviewing the 2000B series scope?  I value your reviews.

I'm looking at the 200 MHz  2-channel model

Thanks

New Tek 2000B? Can you point out a specific model?

The TDS2000B (ie, TDS2022B) was discontinued some time ago.

If you're talking about the TPS2024B, then there's no reason at all to buy that, unless you really want the isolated channels (maybe the battery).

If you're talking about the DSO/MSO2024B, then there's no reason to buy that, because you should be buying an Agilent MSOX2024A which is on eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Agilent-MSOX2024A-PREMIUM-USED-Oscilloscope-200-MHz-4-8-Ch-5Y-Warranty-/191045547677?pt=BI_Oscilloscopes&hash=item2c7b33b69d&_uhb=1) for $2421. Probably less if you bargain Oliver down a bit.

I am looking at the new DPO2022B.  These are selling new for around $2330.00

The DPO2000 is certainly not new, released in Oct 2012.
The 200MHz 2CH Tek is $2300 for 1GS/s 1M 5000wfms
The same Rigol DS2000 is $1600 2GS/s 14M (optional 56M), 50,000wfms, and that gorgeous 500uV/div low noise front end.
No contest.

At that price level, yeah, the Agilent wins hands down.

Thanks Dave, that's the opinion I was looking for.  The Rigol can sit next to my new Agilent 34461A that I ordered this morning

Thanks
Chris

That's a sweet combo. My 34461A is doing some data logging right now, and I just love it.

I'm very excited about the 34461A, it will be here next week.

Do you think that spending an extra $335.00 for the memory depth is worth it?  It seems to me that will will be handy to have the extra memory depth since it's halved when your using both channels.

You can never have too much memory. Very useful for the segmented / waveform capture mode.

That's what I thought you would say, Thanks for all you do, you always make me think.
