NI VISA for keysight instrument (windows 11)
« on: September 30, 2022, 07:30:05 am »
Hi,

The only post I found talking about VISA drivers on windows 11 was https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/windows-11-gpib0-no-communication-with-ke5fx-gpib-toolkit/msg4097404/#msg4097404 but it wasn't quite what I was looking for.

Currently, the latest IO lib suite from keysight doesn't explicitly mention windows 11 on the compatibility list. The NI VISA driver however does. Has anyone been controlling keysight hardware using the NI drivers on windows 11 and know if it's stable? Specifically, I have a bunch of 34972A and 970A dataloggers and use Python (3.7 on win10 atm).

I haven't tested this, but I can't imagine the device caring what software is running on the other end of the GPIB cable. If you're talking about a package like BenchVue, it might be different, but for Python I don't think it would make a difference.

I've been using the latest NI-VISA & NI-488.2 packages on Windows 11 to control older HP gear (e.g. HP 8902A, HP 8673B, etc) without issue via a NI GPIB-ENET/1000.

However, I don't use Python or any intermediary libraries just C# directly to the NI-VISA .NET API so YMMV, etc

Got tired to play with NI-VISA and made this...  a bit simplistic but it works with all my gear.
