Old Test Gear
« on: May 20, 2015, 10:06:09 am »
Hi Folks
I have come across some old test equipment  for sale on the side of the road a Evershed Megger Series One set from 1906 which is really not all that old for stuff in these parts and wondered wether it,s worth spending my hard earned on ? £20.

I wouldn't bother. You might be able to sell it on ebay but its virtually no use these days. Very primitive devices.

Edit: if you put steampunk in the auction title its a winner ;)

Are you sure about "1906"? Some quick Googling indicated that the Series 1 dates from the early 1950s...?

Yes there is some odd information about this and it was still available in the sixties but I,m pretty sure it,s been about since 1906 ,I have seen one dated from 1933.Just look how it,s made. I don,t think I am going to bother with it as it is really for a collector. Old scopes are a different prospect though.
