Title: Omni-Directional broadband and Directional Antennas for Spectrum Analyzer
Post by: crmaris on June 16, 2015, 06:37:24 am
Hey guys,

Can someone suggest me an Omni and a directional antenna for up to 6 GHz frequency. I want something with decent performance which however won't break the bank. I have noticed the Aaronia ones (OmniLOG 70600 680MHz - 6GHz) and the HyperLOG 7060 (700MHz-6GHz) if anyone has experience with them.

Thanks!
Aris

For directional broadband antennas, Kent Britain is your man. He lives an breathes this stuff.

Do you really want omnidirectional, as in spherical pattern, or as in cylindrical? For a wide band antenna in a cylindrical pattern you want to consider a discone antenna. At the spread of frequencies you want to look at they are pretty flat across their functional range.

Thanks for your replies!

I need an omni antenna to capture and measure wireless streams (including 802.11ac hence I need one above 6 MHz) and a directional one for more specific measurements.

So I think a spherical one and not a cylindrical will do.
