Oscilloscope afflictions
« on: December 19, 2017, 02:05:32 pm »
Are you afflicted by any of these?
Slipped Probe, Aliasitis, Scope Blindness, Tinnitus, Screen of Death, Sluggishbootus, Execfile Dysfunction, Cal Lab Abscondia, Scopehoardism, Touchscreen Disease, Cordtripyouup. Just from reading those names it is likely that RealScopes(TM) won't suffer from some of those.

N.B. that is the replacement for the Yahoo! TekScopes group. It is just coming online.
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.
Glider pilot's aphorism: "there is no substitute for span". Retort: "There is a substitute: skill+imagination. But you can buy span".

I would say Slipped Probe and Sluggishbootus. However, the latter can be easily remedied by a nearby coffee machine. The former is known to cause InvalidusMetricus, with its more serious variants SparkisAereous or FriedCircuitus.

Oh, the "whys" of the datasheets... The information is there not to be an axiomatic truth, but instead each speck of data must be slowly inhaled while carefully performing a deep search inside oneself to find the true metaphysical sense...

It seems like as common as Tinnitus is, they would have included one about saturating the inputs and recovery times.   What you see is not always what's there.
