Title: Oscilloscope startup with No trace. Please help.
Post by: electronic_guy on February 26, 2022, 06:49:28 am
Hi,

I have a tektronix 2230 oscilloscope which was working fine and suddenly the trace dissappeared while I was working on a very simple circuit (resistor and capacitor to test a differentiator). The display is working. I can see the readout when turned on with readout toggle.

The following are the observations I can make now on the oscilloscope. I have attached the screen image and the configuration of the controls below that image.

When I pressed the beam finder button, I can see a dot in the bottom of the screen, (image =  20220226_120459.jpg) (image = 20220226_115120-min.jpg)

When I pressed the P-P Auto the trigger, the light dissappear and beam finder shows a short line in the bottom of the screen. ( image = 20220226_115137-min.jpg) ( image = 20220226_120956-min.jpg)

I'm a complete beignner to this troubleshooting. I would truly appreciate any help for me to recover this oscilloscope.

Thank you.

Something has failed. First thing I'd do is check all the power supply rails in the scope.

Until you repair it, turn down the spot intensity.  Without deflection, there is a risk the spot will permanently damage the fluorescent layer of the tube.
