Title: Overmold and Bumper Material Used on Test Equipment
Post by: Mezzer266 on February 26, 2018, 07:26:28 pm
Hey Everyone,

Does anyone know what the material used for overmolds and bumpers on equipment is? I'm referring to the yellow on the Flukes, Orange on Keysight DMM, grey bumpers on Agilent benchtop units, blue on bkprecsion, etc...

Thanks,
Mezz

Yeah, I'm thinking it could be polyurethane too. I don't have any experience with that first hand where I also know that it is polyurethane so I'm not certain. I don't think it's rubber though cause it seems too stiff.

Some type of thermoplastic elastomer, most likely SBS or SEBS.

Chinesium might be soft PVC, as some of these stink and feel like its 50%wt phthalate based plasticiser. In which case, i would really avoid touching it.
