Agilent E3632A Power Supply Transformer hum
« on: February 26, 2019, 04:43:10 pm »
Hello!

Well, i've purchased for a reasonable price 1 E3632A power supply and i have a little concern. During switching on the unit i can hear transformer hum at startup which is not too loud but it is hearable. So my question is, is this normal on these power supplies or should i be concerned by that? Also, if i block the fan i can hear transformer sound which should be normal.
I wanna hear your opinions on that.

Thank you in advance!

Hrvoje

Hello Hrvoje_CRO

I have two of these E3632A and both have an initial transformer noise, when turned ON.
But after they are ON, there should not be any more noise.
So, I think your E3632A is alright.

There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those who can count and those who can not.

Hello HighVoltage!

Thank you so much!
Well if you block the fan you can hear the transformer but that is normal. Arghh, i am obsessive compulsive and i asked this because i've thought there is a problem with my supply. The worst thing for electronic technician is having OCD |O

Thank you again!

Best Regards,
Hrvoje
