Fluke 8060a stuck at power on self test.....(problem found)

Was working fine yesterday and then this morning, BAM....turn it on and all lcd segments appear, and that is where it seems to be stuck.

Going to tear into it and see what is going on.

Too bad too because I had it all apart last week and had replaced all the electrolytic caps.

Thoughts?

Turns out that the elastomeric strip between the LCD and the digital pcb assembly was the issue.

To expand on this issue, I do recall when I tore the meter apart to recap and clean, the display assembly has the elastomeric strip in it, (ref MP14 in the manual).

The strip is 2" long and had been somewhat flattened and distorted due to the shape of the assembly and pressure.

I do recall rotating it so that the oblong side of it sat vertical between the lcd and the control board.

Not a correct fix, but until some type of replacement for that piece can be found, the meter will probably have it's finicky days.

 I have an 8062a that does get stuck at power on occasionally , but its not the elastomer strip, (that seems to be working okay). I suspect its the startup supply to the micro or U3, (ie Q1 and associated components), but since it is not a regular event I have not been able to track down the actual issue.
Yes it has been cleaned and re-capped.
