Philips PM 8422 mab Z80 ?

Does anyone know what this is device is (see picture) - and more importantly have any useful documentation please ?

It would appear to be a POD for an emulator/debugger for the Z80 microprocessor and I assume needs to be plugged into an analyser of some sort.

Plenty of views of this thread but no responses yet.

So I have cracked open the unit and its got rather a lot of logic inside - see pictures.

Sandwich of 2 PCB's one contains logic and interface electronics for the interface to the debugger, the other PCB appears to contain some more logic surrounding an EPROM than might contain some Z80 executable code/BIOS.

Back in the late 80'ies , i was using a Phillips uC development system PMDS
This could be a pod for that system.

Could connect to one of Philips logic analyzers.. maybe even the fluke 9000/9100... since fluke bought philips and lot of stuff was Philips/Fluke jointly branded..

Ok, a bit more scouring of the interweb....

I THINK you are right  - it is one of the PODs that was available for the Philips PM4221 PMDS (Philips Microprocessor Development System) from the eighties.
A pretty bespoke piece of kit and I'll probably need the main PM4221 system to make any use of it.

When I got it I was rather hoping I might be able to use it with my Philips PM3585 Logic Analyser - pretty sure that is not the case as it appears to be for the Philips PMDS unit based around the PM4221 debugging platform.

Correct, it is part of the PMDS II/III or PEDS microcomputer development systems. Software runs on UNIX/XENIX.
I can find it in the 1987/88 catalog. Don't think you can do much with it without the rest of the system.

The 8422M is for the PMDS II/PEDS UNIX variant. The 8422C for the PMDS III Xenix variant.

Emulation for Z80 2.5MHz or Z80A 4MHz.

I guess I'm lucky - my PM3585 came with a load of pods.

This MAB zZ80 pod may be resigned to the 'curious and interesting bucket'.

Came across this at the local recycling center which is likely related. Wanted $150 and monitor is not working so left it there.
