philips pm3055 scope read serial data
(1/1)
david17:
Hi, thanks for reading this.
I'm trying to read the data from the RS232 socket on the rear of the scope with python3.
If I do
ser_in = ser.readline()
print(ser_in)
I get lines of hex code starting with b'B\ then hex code.
I have tried decode 'UTF8' I then get odd text and numbers scatted over the screen.
baudrate of 2400 seams, better than 1200.
I can not find any info in manual or online.
I don't know what is being sent, is this maybe a waste of time anyway.
Thanks for any help.
RAPo:
You can setup the rs232 settings (baud, parity etc) via the RS232 sofcal menu. Use Menu Fn-2 key.

Here's what I found in this manual:

Thanks, I never found that manual. So the 9 pin socket is not an RS232, it's a MAT 3220 Philips llc bus. Used for remote control.
Thanks for your help.

I have this scope, it doesn't have any smart functions like reporting data, measurements etc, it's purely for remote control.
