Philips PM3266 scope opinions
« on: December 08, 2014, 03:40:33 am »
Hi, I would like to know is it worth it to buy this(eng translation) scope for ~220 USD(I think it is a good price, here in Croatia test equipment is very expensive, and it comes with two probes). I am a newbie but I have some experience with analog scopes.

Thanks

That's a storage tube model. Be really careful the tube is in good condition before you buy.

I have never used a Philips storage tube scope, but I used a lot of their similar 100MHz scopes without storage (around 1980 when they were new). I was always happy with them.

For the same price you can buy a much newer Philips FLUKE Combiscope of the generation after the PM3266
But then may be they are not available in your country.
Can you not import from other parts of EU or US?

If the PM3266 is in good working order, it is a good scope.
I had several of them, a long time ago.
There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those who can count and those who can not.

Guy says the tube is in good condition but I will of course check it out myself if I decide to buy it.

@HighVoltage I can import but the shipping is very expensive and I would like to buy locally so I can check the scope out before I buy it :)

Thanks for the opinions guys ;)

I do not recommend this oscilloscope for two reasons:

- The storage CRT has a limited life and it is rare to find one in good condition. However, it can often still be used without the storage function if it is not too burnt.

- In Pm326X series, attenuators are different from most others Philips oscilloscopes.
Philips generally use reed relays to switch the resistances of the Y input, and that is very fine.
But here, this is not the case, there is no reed relay, it is contacts.
These attenuators give a lot of bad contact problems ... a true disaster ...
