Philips PM3585 add GPIB option
« on: August 02, 2014, 10:58:13 pm »
Evnin'...

I have a Philips PM3585 logic analyzer here without GPIB....but the GPIB connector is fitted on the back...

Is there an easy way to add GPIB functionality to this device?

I opened up once the device but failed getting to the main PCB board as the service manual wasn't quite clear how to remove the main board...

You might be able to pick up tips on how to access the main board etc on my video here:

Got now the GPIB ICs installed....you really have to remove the few screws at the back....as well all black screws around the main board holding it to a metal frame....and of course the bigger 6 screws spread in the middle of the main board...

Does the PM3585 needs any special software to activate GPIB?

I don't seem to find any configuration option to set the address...nor does it show anywhere that it recognized it....
ALso didn't see any RS232 options...

Really nobody has a PM 3585 with the GPIB option installed?

Haven't found any information on the web regarding GPIB and RS232 communication with this device....

Service manual states only that a SN75160, SN75161 and a TMS9914 can be installed to have GPIB feature...
