Phillips/Fluke PM3394 Combiscope Help
<< < (8/10) > >>
AutogolazzoJr:
It happened again today. I turn on the scope, I checked both battery voltages (two of them, each 1.6v) and when I turned it on, I get a NO BATTERY BACKUP and all my waveforms are lost and I have to refocus and autocal the machine. Is there a problem with a certain chip? Something I can replace and easily have it not randomly clear the backup? I have a pm3394 with the extended memory (options for 1 channel 32k aquisition). I have looked at grumpydoc's teardown (https://www.eevblog.com/forum/repair/pm3394-can't-communicate-with-ufo/) and haven't found what could go wrong, because I know the two ROMs on the cpu board are flash chips.
Any help?
grumpydoc:
Dodgy connection?
AutogolazzoJr:
I'd rather it not be, I was about to break out the soldering iron! The connection is most likely the case, the terminals are dark and grimy. I will go test that out.
DerKammi:
Clean them up with demi water. The have seen leaked batteries then, acid is still doing its thing I'm afraid after a long time.

Mine were still covered in battery acid when I bought the scope and are dark black. But after 8 weeks it holds up nicely these days.
AutogolazzoJr:
Wups, my memory was erased as well, they were only slightly dark. Vinegar cleaned them up fine. We'll see how it performs in the following days.
