Tektronix TDS 1002 -> 2002 (monochrome to color display)

Hi,

I've a TDS1002 scope with broken (monochrome) display. I want to replace/install a new color display.
Will it work without 'hacking' the TDS1002 scope to TDS2002 and only wire the color display the right way (18pin mainboard to 15-pin display connector)?

Anyone done this before?
