Pixeldefect on Siglent SDS814X HD
« on: March 21, 2024, 10:48:22 am »
I got a pixel defect. Anyone else had this?

Is there a possibility, that there could develop more of these defects?

Can you describe this pixel defect better?

Also, can you provide a screen shot, photo, or video of this pixel defect?

You can upload a video to YouTube.  And then provide the link in your reply.

I have not noticed anything -- but as radiohomebrewer said, a description and photo of the defect you found would be helpful so we know what to look out for. Is it an always-on or always-off pixel? Single pixel, or a group of adjacent ones?

In the early days of TFT displays, specs on the number of permissible pixel defects were common. But I have not seen such specs for quite a while. Is that because I stopped paying attention, or because display manufacturing is generally so well-controlled now that defects are no longer expected?

Almost looks like it is not a "digital" defect, where some pixels do not operate -- but some "analog" piece of debris which obscures the pixels. Some pixels seem to be half-visible. But it's not on the outside of the screen, where it could be cleaned off, I assume?

I wanted to leave the protective screen on, but to make sure, i removed it. It looks like some kind of defect. Its barely visible, if you look from the side (80°).

If it is permanently stuck on or behind the coverglass, I would ask the dealer to replace the scope. This kind of defect is not "state of the art", and while it does not make the scope unusable, you can't un-see it now and will probably always be distracted by it.
