Since someone from a German forum was so kind to provide me with scans of the service manual, I would like to share it with you - in case anyone else comes across this power supply. I merged the images into one PDF file (1.8Mb), but because of the very strict file size limitations I have to host it on my server.
Download the
Oltronix B60-1T service manual here.
The individual images were also uploaded by the original provider to
the Radio Museum siteThe manual is a very good read, explaining how the device works and what each individual piece of the circuit does - including the maintenance and calibration instructions. Unlike some other guy stated in an article (here or elsewhere?) I think the device is very nicely built in terms of maintainability. That guy was complaining how there are no detachable connectors and that getting into the device was obnoxious.
However, if you have the manual and know how it is done, it is an absolute dream to work on: You simply remove two screws from the bottom and slide of the bottom and side cover (one piece u-bent aluminium). Then you can turn a latch and swing out the main PCB with all of the potentiometers and pleated resistances (yes, pleated - it is 1970s tech after all).
In case you blew a power transistor or a fuse, you do not even have to open the unit as those parts are accessible from the outside!
I could easily calibrate most of the unit myself. The built in voltmeter and ammeter now match my trusty multimeters and the ten-turn voltage dial. The only bit still needing maintenance is the current limiting range. I still need to learn about how exactly the pleated resistances work (setting the upper current limits) and I need a big enough dummy load. Current limiting works well, but the values are a about 25% to high in respect to the actual specs.
