Power Off Siglent SDS1204X-E

Hi!

I've recently bought a Siglent SDS1204X-E, and have noticed that the power button glows on and off when the scope is powered down (but plugged into my PDU).

Question: Is this a problem?  Should I put the scope on switched power so that off is off?

The scope when off is in a sleep mode with the USB and Ethernet disabled, power consumption should be less than 1W from memory, If some other factor is your concern, raise It and we can go from there.

My new SDS 1104X-E is the same. Some energy conscious users are put off by it, but for me it is nothing to loose sleep over. I have not measured the current consumption but I would think it is minuscule.

Ha, ironically the glowing power button light irritates me at night since I have my scope in the corner of my bedroom next to my desk, and I'm very picky about lights while I'm trying to fall asleep.  So I would lose sleep over it (to exaggerate) if I didn't cut the physical power .

In my perfect world there would be an option to disable the sleep-mode pulsing light, but of course it's not a huge issue.

It's a non-issue as you can use sockets with switches.
I don't know if it is possible in the SDS1000X-E, but in other siglent equipment such as the SSA spectrum analyzers you have an option to switch on the instrument as soon as power is applied. I was told this is done to enable remote on-off for automated test equipment

Yes, many of the modern Siglents have user selectable ON at the reconnection of power, X-E DSO's too.

However they prefer soft OFF using the power button for a controlled shutdown.

Siglent DSO's aren't very low power devices on standby. Remember, "you can fly to the bloody Pluto...". Don't know how power efficient other DSOs or MSOs are.

I have one of these. Would like to see proper off-switch, not just this "high power soft off" crap. Well, I either use sockets with switches or just pull the plug.
