Title: probe ground spring clip for Siglent PP215?
Post by: klaff on June 05, 2017, 04:19:02 am
Does anyone know where to buy ground springs which fit on the Siglent PP215 probes? I'm talking about the small springs which fit around the exposed ground near the probe tip and are used to reduce inductance in the probe connection.  My probes didn't come with them. :(

http://probemaster.com/4983hg-high-frequency-ground/ (http://probemaster.com/4983hg-high-frequency-ground/)
But I do not think that spring like that is really useful

Take a trip at local music instrument stores, buy a guitar's string, using pliers then coil it at a hard metal rod like screw driver or a even a nail will do.

Bugger.
A unit I checked does have them and on the product drawing on the pamphlet does show them as part of the package.
Mic'ed up the end and yes the Probemaster ones will fit.

Yep or even some high tensile Mig welding wire would do, 0.6mm is what I'd use.

Thanks for the link. I've occasionally found them useful when looking at signal integrity issues or details of switching regulator waveforms.

As a follow up to my own question I thought I would post captures three different ground connections, 1) with no ground connection at the probe (only the house ground connection through the power cords), 2) with the 6 inch / 150 mm alligator connection, and 3) with a spring ground clip.
