Hantek HDG3000C 3CH Signal Generators. Experience?
« on: July 20, 2023, 07:05:37 pm »
I'm going to teach a short course in AC and three-phase systems with simulations and experiments. For simulation I will use LTSpice. Since I also would like a lab setup with a single 3CH signal generator (rather than 2*2CH) I have only really found one signal generator and that is the HDG3000C series from Hantek that have three channels.

See: http://www.hantek.com/products/detail/18190

(.. and yes, I could build a simple static 3 phase generator from a single source but that is not the questions :-) )

Since I'm a bit hesitant towards Hantek I was just wondering if anyone have experience of this signal generator series?

I assume the limitations for CH3 are not an issue:
Frequency range(CH1/CH2): 1μHz ~ 100MHz/80MHz/60MHz/40MHz/25MHz; CH3: 1μHz ~ 20MHz

Even the B not much info on it: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/hantek-function-waveform-generator-hdg3012b-hdg3022b-hdg3000-series/
The ebay and aliexpress sellers seem to be using photos from the B unit without the third channel, a bit confusing.
The one ebay seller I see is listed as $440 for the HDG3023C. Otherwise not sure where you buy it from? Ideally a reputable distributor if you have any issues.

But I would expect your use would be fairly basic features so I'd be surprised if they didn't work.

Thanks.

You are right I will not need any higher frequencies for the lab setups, but it would be nice if they werte good enough to be useful also in other setups. In regards to using the "B" series picture I don't think so. The (limited) 3rd CH is actually on the back on the 3 CH versions.

So my guess is that Hantek tagged on a 3CH in a "Frankenstein" way on their existing 2CH generator and the only spare room was on the back. That is most likely also the reason for the limitations. They crammed as much they could from the existing architecture (CPU speed etc.) without having to make substantial upgrades.

I have only been able to find one place to buy from,eBay.de. It can also be found on Aliexpress but the seller have ridiculous freight prices to Europe, 60% of purchase price so that is out of the question. They also only carry the 20MHz version and not any of the higher spec models.

I will buy one to try out (and post results back here). I still have a lot of time before I have to get serious for the course!

I also recall bottom of the barrel Feeltech got a 3ch arb signal generator.. though havent looked at the specs, so not sure if it will do what you seek.
but it existed in 20/40/60Mhz version FY8300S 3ch.   price was around 150US incl. EU VAT & shipping and the 60Mhz vers. around 30 bucks more.. from sources like Banggood.

// clearly a massive step down from the Hantek, but so is the price https://www.banggood.com/FY8300S-20MHz-or-40MHz-or-60MHz-Signal-Generator-Signal-Source-Frequency-Counter-DDS-Arbitrary-Waveform-Three-Channel-Signal-Generator-p-1958035.html?

Got no experience with the Hantek, only got a Feeltech FY6900/60Mhz (2ch) and I cant complain' for the price at 75US a few years back, when they cleared EU stock at Banggood, its been okay, and their PC software is very crude, but sofar works and I like that i can run it from powerbank or its PC connection when running it by its PC interface or from my scopes USB..they all seem to lack numerical keypad, and as stated, its the bottom of the barrel.. tons of features, sockets / TTL out and settings, for relative little money... and mainly intended for people on a strict budget.

Hello,

Isn't the common ground a problem?

If not, then two Analog Discovery 3 in dual mode with four generators and four differential channels might be interesting.

Best regards
