Hi all,
I'm using a Prologix GPIB<->Ethernet converter to read a HP53132A frequency counter.
The prologix is accessed over telnet, and I'm using a python script to read/write GPIB commands.
Most of the time everything works ok, but every once in a while I need to interrupt the measurement, and sometimes this causes the prologix to completely disappear from the network!?
No more telnet access to the IP of the Prologix.
nmap also shows the IP of the Prologix has disappeared.
I have to reboot the Prologix to get it to work.
This has to do with changing input signals on the HP53132A, and it usually gives errors GPIB-410 (query interrupted) or GPIB-420 (query unterminated).
The GPIB errors I can deal with, but the Prologix IP-address completely disappearing is not acceptable.
Anyone encountered something similar?

Never had a problem like that with my Ethernet Prologix adapter. I've had a similar problem with USB-based Prologix board where my EZGPIB software freezes due to a programming error I've made and I have to use Windows Task Manager to force EZGPIB to close - in those cases I believe what happens is that the forced close leaves the USB port / Prologix in an unknown state and causes Windows to remove the port. Fortunately that happens rarely. But so far I've not seen it with the Ethernet version.
You should ask Prologix the question - my experience is that Prologix's owner, Abdul Nizar, is extremely good in responding to customer questions. I've been a Prologix customer since their first adapter board and have four or five around the shop now.
