Hi there,
I just purchased this dso today for what I hope was a great deal. It turns on and all the buttons work, inputs/probes work, display and backlight work... and battery seems to be ok... seller said he charged it using the USB port since he had no adapter.
However, I did some searching to learn more about it and couldn't find anything other than a datasheet which only lists features and refers to an older Protektest.com site which is no longer. I did find archived pages from that site on archive.org, but the download links are not archived so I can't get the software or manual. And the current Protek website doesn't even have it on there.
Datasheet link: http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/333/2006_06_Pg04_Pg_05_820_840_860-17236.pdf (http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/333/2006_06_Pg04_Pg_05_820_840_860-17236.pdf)
All I could gather is that it was new in 2006 with a MSRP of roughly 1,500, but I cannot find anyone selling one, no manual, no software, no accessories (not that I need but really cool: temp, humidity, psi) and the the seller knew nothing about it as he only received it along with a bunch of other tools as a payment from I guess the original owner.
Now, I'm just getting into circuitry/components and I have a lot to learn, but don't have any experience to tell me whether this is a good tool or not, or how to make sure it is working properly. I was hoping someone here could help... maybe have some experience with this DSO. Is it considered a good tool?
If by chance someone here has one and has a manual, please let me know! I will email Protek in the meantime... hope to get somewhere, as it seems others didn't have much luck in similar situations with Protek.
I welcome any input/opinions on this device.
Thank you in advance.

It's a rebadge, I'm sure someone will figure out the OEM and post.
In the meantime, why don't you try contacting them: https://www.gsi-protek.com/ (https://www.gsi-protek.com/)

altfiddle,
If you find a copy of the manual (or the drivers), could you share?
I also found a good deal on a Protek 840; I have been looking for a power supply for this guy (9v 1A, 5.5mm x 2.1mm) but the deep socket for the barrel connector (22mm depth) has made it difficult to find.
