Title: Question about Agilent 89641s vxi based vsa/sa
Post by: acAlina on August 04, 2021, 03:09:46 pm
Hello everyone!

I could get the aforementioned vector signal analyzer for pretty cheap considering its specs, but i cannot find much information about it, especially the software. Its manual says it is compatible with the 89600 vsa software, but it is not supported by the current version of this software. I found a link on this forum to a older version, the 89601a v12. I’ve only read about people using that software with their (hacked?) e4406A’s, so i’d like to know if this is indeed the software i need to control the vxi based system.

Also, how is the licensing on the older versions? Do i have pay absurd amounts to use a +10 year old software? I’ll probably use it mostly as a spectrum analyzer so i don’t need any fancy functionality. So can i atleast use the SA software for free? And how about calibration, can it be done diy?

If anyone has experience with this system i’d really appreciate your opinions/info about it. Allthough the thing is cheap (~300) i’m not brave enough to buy it just to find out i have no way of using it😁

(I’m new to this forum so sorry if this is the wrong board or if this topic has been covered before.)

Thanks!
