Title: Question on GW Instek Function Generator GFG-8219A
Post by: mikepa on June 19, 2017, 02:32:21 pm
I picked up a GW Instek Function Generator GFG-8219A on eBay.  I have a question about the frequency adjust control that seems to have  a much wider range than is stated in the manual - for instance on the 1K range the frequency is adjustable from  10Hz to 3.2KHz whereas the manual says it should be 300Hz to 3 KHz. d

Its tricky (impossible) setting an exact frequency such as 1Khz and this extra range down to 10Hz doesn't help.

So my question, is this extended range normal for the 8219A?

Hi - just tested mine

Range  30KHz to 300KHz
Actual     1KHz to 318KHz

However if you set the frequency to less than the range lower limit, stability suffers.
I agree that the frequency adjustment requires a " safecracker's touch "

Mikepa:  I just tested mine and got the same results as you:  10Hz to 3.2kHz  on the 1K range.  And yes, setting an exact frequency is nearly impossible.
