| Question on HP-3580A parts list for HV section |
| (1/1) |
| slbender:
Greetings, If I recall correctly the high voltage board in this 3580A vintage set’s “Parts List” listed only a single really high voltage diode as: 10mA/7.5KV, with several nearby diodes in the same circuit as rated at only 200 volts. Could this be a misprint? I suspect the high voltage is out in my set so I ordered some 30mA/8KV replacements, along with some HV caps. Rather be safe than sorry anyone know this answer??? Steven |

Ok, the early (1980) HP-3580A manual list’s a single A11A1CR5 as that high voltage 7.5kV/10mA diode and A11A1CR1-4 as: 180V/200mA, for early serial number sets. The 1987 revised 3580A manual lists A11A1CR1 and A11A1CR2 diode’s as 7kV/50mA. Confused yet? The associated caps also get changed, three 1kV caps (C1=.001, C2,C3 =.01uF) and three (4700pF=.0047uF) 4kV caps in the early sets, but six 4700pF/4kV caps in later serial number sets. So now I say :scared: I suspect my set is later than either manual because it has the red leds readout instead of the mechanical geared unit. Anybody have data from a manual later than 1987 with better information? Steven |
