I read through the forum but I didn't quite get if the STM can be revived via STLink?

I have a V2.1 mainboard and a V2.2 front panel, CH1 and CH2 light up, some relay clicking, but no access to bootloader mode via PWR+F5

STM and Winbond flash seem to have been replaced/swapped out/taken out to reprogram? So thats always a bad sign...

I got this thing from a fleamarket, in box, with factory packaged accessories....

you can reprogram srm32 devices as long you have the right firmware in them,   and bootloader if they use it

the problems as many faced is feeltech  bad hardware managent, hardware changes etc ...

we would need to build an huge repo of all possible front panels mcu and other programmable devices versus ids on the pcb's  ....

so far no definite solutions   and feeltech is no help, they sucks

fremen67 wrote a custom firmware FP-20191011_V082 for the FY-6600. My FY-6900-60 died after a firmware update. The front panel was version 1.9, and the mainboard was version 1.9. This firmware, for FY-6600, starts the front panel, some buttons and the encoder work, the relays click. The button layout is incorrect, and the communication protocol is incompatible.

I used the debugger and I managed to get the front panel working (Front panel version 1.9, Main board version 1.9) The firmware version is 1.5, but there's no generation. I need firmware FYBI version 1.3. I couldn't find V1.3 That was the latest version with the Altera Cyclone.
After the firmware update, the panel will be in update mode. You need to hold down the on/off.

my  tool is like the firmware update in dds software, it doesnt work if you cant access the bootloader with power + f5

just received a new 6900.. completely different again....
V2.4 front with different LCD and V3.31 mainboard without altera fpga anymore but a EG4D20EG176
dumped the firmware but it wont work on my unit (v2.2 frontpanel and v2.2 mainboard.)
also dumped the eeprom of the v3.31 board

Your firmware is fully running on my v1.9 generator, only the screen is upside down. The firmware was slightly edited. I did not change the firmware in 25q16.
This firmware is suitable for 2.4 front with different LCD and V3.31 mainboard.

Fully working firmware for front panel FY-6900 For devices with W25Q32 ROM. Tested on a generator with Altera Cyclone, main board V1.9 front panel v1.9. Upload via stlink v2.

So... An Update.

With one of the .bin files provided by user256 I was able to revive my V2.2 frontpanel (it was fully softbricked).  So I can use bootloader mode again.

My mainboard version is V2.1 (Altera).

After trying all fybi files I found, none could produce any waveform output.

But:
- DC sweep seems to work
- setting DC offset moves, well, the DC....
- Frequency counter works.
- When switching Waveforms I see short activity on the datalines of the SPI flash...

are these things not handled by the FPGA?

What I also found is: The orientation of the bootloader screen seems to influence the orientation of the then flashed firmware.

What I gathered: I need a V1.3 fybi as this was the last version working with the "Altera mainboard", and maybe a dump of a V2.1 mainboard flash.

But it seems like these are nowhere to be found, sadly.

I also have a generator on Altera. Maybe you need to install firmware 25Q16.

ok, I think it's time to let go...

every combination I tried yields the same outcome:
- counter, set offset, sweep offset works
- no waveforms

The FPGA seems to talk to the Mircochip DACs to control the offset voltage. It also sets ONE value to the "big" DACs when I switch to square wave, or some others. Maybe the starting value of the waveform? But nothing "dynamic" is happening. The 10MHz going into the FPGA is fine...

Maybe my mainboard is just fried somehow...

Fully working firmware for FY-6900 ver. 1.42  for older devices with W25Q16 ROM. Tested on a generator with Altera Cyclone, main board V1.9 front panel v1.9.
In the archive fy6900-60m1.42.bin and W25Q16JV.bin.

Thank you for the files. But they give the same result.

So I think something is broken. I can't really fathom as to what could possibly be wrong. Maybe the input for the 10MHz reference clock on the FPGA is busted. I think I'll remove the 10MHz oscillator just to see whether offset control still works.

I grabbed an FY6300 (compact unit for panel mounting), on popping her open the output stage op-amps are NJM4556A and OPA2991, are these standard across the FY series, and if so are there any go-to drop-in upgrades?

IMO, not worth it; reason: the "references" are LDO's powering to the board.

(Oops I meant the FY6200) Does that have implications beyond noise and distortion? Main goal with an upgrade was higher GBW/Slewrate to increase the max amplitude maintainable at a given frequency and get sharper square waves.

Since you mention it I could also drop a few dollars on some higher PSRR LDOs to clean the signal up a bit  ;D .

Change the output CFB amps, add beefier heatsink to them, and change the power supply to analog ±15V/+5V. If you want more details/ideas, read the FY-6600 thread(91 pages); most of the observations applies to the FY-6200, too:
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/feeltech-fy6600-60mhz-2-ch-vco-function-arbitrary-waveform-signal-generator/
A short list of tweaks: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/feeltech-fy6600-60mhz-2-ch-vco-function-arbitrary-waveform-signal-generator/msg1353326/#msg1353326
My advice: don't invest too much, because you quickly ends up over the price of an Owon/Uni-T generator.

Link to a posting I made just over seven years ago which will give you pretty well all that is useful to know about upgrading these cheap 'n' cheerful arbitrary function generators. :)

https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/feeltech-fy6600-60mhz-2-ch-vco-function-arbitrary-waveform-signal-generator/msg2163736/#msg2163736

Here are "Before and after" screenshots showing the effect of the op amp upgrade I'd applied

I've attached the three photos of my psu modification from Reply #1831.

BTW, I see the last posting into that topic thread was just over a year ago (6 May 2025). I checked because I'd enabled notifications and couldn't remember being notified of any more postings over the past 6 months.

Also, it looks like my FY6600 -60M has suffered a failure some time during the past month or so since I last used it (no display but it reacts to soft power on/off and channel on/off presses and I see a small negative voltage offset on the scope). Possibly the OCXO psu has finally succumbed to some 5 or 6 years of 24/7 operation keeping the OCXO nice and warm (1.3W mains consumption). I'll have a closer look later when I've finished rebuilding my RFS.
