Title: Recommendations for 100 MHz low phase noise OCXOs on the secondary market?
Post by: matthuszagh on November 21, 2023, 11:50:34 pm
Has anyone found any particularly good deals for low phase noise 100 MHz OCXOs that find their way into the secondary market? There seem to be quite a lot of options for 10 MHz OCXOs, but much less for 100 MHz.

The Wenzel 500-06769 are commonly found on ebay. The prices are good and the performance is decent (PN measurement here: http://www.ke5fx.com/Wenzel_500_06769_PN.png (http://www.ke5fx.com/Wenzel_500_06769_PN.png)). I was hoping for something a little better, and would be willing to pay a bit more, but if there's nothing in that category I may pick up a couple of 500-06769.

OS400-1006-012 from the RFX claims to have -150 dBc/Hz (100Hz) but maybe that is bit pricey??

The performance on that looks great, though I expect it won't be cheap.

The price is ok, but that -150 dBc/Hz @ 100 Hz is for the 10 MHz version. I didn't see any specs for the 100 MHz unit, but I may inquire. I'd have to boost the output level too.

I recently bought something on eBay, but can't find a datasheet for it. eBay sales description said, "-154dBc/Hz@2KHz", but I haven't measured PN on it yet. I posted something asking if anyone else knew about it, and have had no replies.

Complete solution on a single board.  Can also be GPS Disciplined. The PPS or 10 MHz disciplining is a nice feature, but the phase noise is actually marginally worse than the Wenzel units posted above, which is mostly what I care about here. I didn’t see a price, but given that it’s a new microsemi product with disciplining capability, I expect it’s quite a bit more expensive than the second hand wenzel units.

Ah, I wanted to write "always available" as I got one on Friday
morning with 2 days delivery time,  but  no more now it seems.    :(
for abt. €100 new.
I asked ECS for the phase noise of the 100 MHz units and I was
given the .pdf without NDA.
Still a better deal than my 5 & 10 MHz recovered Chinese Morion MV89As.

Hi, I just use the new KVG O.70 design a small OCXO box and PCB, the test result show -109 dB/Hz (10Hz), -132 dB/Hz (100Hz), if more than 100Hz, the noise floor is low than my reference, I can not test/verify it, but I think official chart is correct (please check the attached PDF file).
I also have another KVG O-40, if you need the O.70, I can sell to you.
