Hello,
Since PrimeDay is here I am considering the purchase of a USB C power bank that will run the DHO8XX/9XX scopes. Does anyone have a proven solution?
Attached is a picture of the PS Label. The supply being USB C can output several combinations of voltages. I think I read somewhere that 15V 4A was needed due to the in-rush current (the supply says 15V 3A) but I can't seem to find that link.
I also saw a video where a fellow in China designed and made a rather nice add on module but that is a bit of work to accomplish that so I would rather buy something OTS that would work as at this point I have too many projects and too little time!
There is also a video where the DHO924 is shown running off of a USB C powerbank for 1.5 Hours and several people have asked about details on the power bank but the poster never replies.
I'd like to have something that would run at least that long and perhaps 2hrs or more. I have a 8bit Owon SDS-7102 that runs probably 3-4 hours on battery but having a 12bit scope with that capability would be great.
I have looked on Amazon and there are a plethora of units there but with the huge amount of "specmanship" going on you are never sure of what you are getting as the stated output power number is only for marketing..

Hello,
I personally use Baseus 65W (3.25A up to 20V) 20Ah power bank without any problem, don't remember exact PN but I can check it later.

Checked last night - 1.5h of runtime from 80% (displayed) SoC till power-off.
Internal display shows current consumption 2.2-2.3A@15V after DAQ init (and ~1.3A before famous relay clicks) which sums up to 50Wh of energy at output and corroborates specs (74Wh battery, >75% energy conversion efficiency). 8)

I bought the INIU 140W Power Bank and it gives me a little over 2Hrs runtime on my DHO924S. I created a mount for it that can be 3D printed.
The powerbank was this one and was suggested in an earlier thread. Thanks for that!

Available power banks have changed since the original post. I searched today using Gemini AI to assist me. Here is what it found:
To power your Rigol DHO914 oscilloscope, you need a USB-C power bank that explicitly supports the 15V @ 3A (45W) or 12V @ 4A Power Delivery (PD) profile.
Why Anker Fails- The 15V Profile Omission: Many modern Anker power banks omit the 15V output rail entirely. They often jump straight from 9V to 20V to optimize for laptops and smartphones.
The Rigol Requirement: The Rigol DHO900 series strictly negotiates a 15V or 12V profile. If a power bank lacks an explicit 15V (or 12V) rail, negotiation fails, and the scope will refuse to boot or boot-loop. Baseus power banks (such as the legacy PPADM65-S) traditionally included full support for the 15V/3A rail.
