Hello everyone,

Had a quick look over the forum and initially I though of posting in the general purpose thread, but that looks more specific to day to day topics.

Some time ago a colleague of mine has used the portable scope just fine and then, the following day when powering up the scope it in order to log in, it was requesting a PIN number (similar to a phone PIN access code -  I can provide an image). Since this was unknown and all the basic options were tested, I contacted MicSig (via sales@micsig.com), they informed me (via europe@micsig.com) that their engineer was working on the case ("I have asked our engineer to generate a code to unlock it. ").

After a few follow-up email I was told:

Quote
"Engineer says , " this model is already outdated and there is no future update on this.

Now to unlock it , you need to send it back to us for hard reset ! "

I can offer you a latest version STO1004 with a good discount from my side . As it is not easy to send this item
back to us , also  return shipping cost is expensive . "

As you can imagine, I'm not pleased with this answer, I'm expecting an oscilloscope to outlast a smartphone generation.

Thanks to someone from the local market I got access to a link that contains an installation guide (Link to the guide: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/11w0PFCuoDgDe-fYtYxsZ7Vn1WwJcZBgK).

I've followed the steps but without good results - during the flash process the unit remains stuck at "userdata: flashing", more details on the full process below:

The MicSig in question is: Micsig STO1104E (SN 3207...)  Plugging the scope in via USB - identifies as: VID_18D1 / PID_4EE9
   Steps I followed:

01. Plug the Scope into mains power.
02. Press Shift + Auto + Power -> MicSig Logo is showd and "wait for update" is displayed.
03. Plug in the USB (connected to Win10 - drivers installed as defined in the guide) -  Scope will show in Windows device manager identifies as: VID_AA55 / PID_1234 - "Connected" is displayed.
04. Open smartupgrade.exe (running as administrator) - select the image (smart_sign.img) - Click Ugrade. Sequence will start
   a. "update: enable" is displayed briefly
   b. "down 0%" to "down 100%" is displayed - takes 2-3 seconds
   c. "boot: flashing" is displayed for 5-6 seconds
   d. "flash 0%" to "flash 100%" is displayed - takes 2-3 seconds
   e. "boot: done" is displayed for 1-2 seconds
   f. "system: wait..." is displayed for 1-2 seconds
   g. "down 0%" to "down 100%" is displayed - takes 19-20 seconds
   h. "system: flashing" is displayed for 30-40 seconds
   i. "flash 0%" to "flash 100%" is displayed - takes 15-20 seconds
   j. "cache: flashing" is displayed for 1-2 seconds
   k. "flash 0%" to "flash 100%" is displayed - takes 1-2 seconds
   l. "userdata: wait" is displayed briefly
   m. "down 0%" to "down 100%" is displayed - takes 19-20 seconds
   n. "userdata: flashing"  - at this step I've tried multiple options - left overnight or disconnect it immediately - no luck - I'm stuck
05. After restart of the unit it will display the MicSig logo and hang.

Has anyone dealt with a similar issue?

Thank you all, hope you have a great week!
