Replacement Fuses for UNI-T61E

The inevitable finally happened, I blew out the mA/uA side 1A ceramic fuse. The branding on the OEM fuse is "AsiaFuse AF63C-1A" with a "BS1362" marking. There is no amperage/voltage rating marking stamped in the metal end caps.

I am finding it difficult finding a replacement. The fuse appears to be an odd size (6x25mm), most 1A buss fuses I find measure 5x20mm, or 6x30mm. The only source I could find was on eBay and ships from China. eBay sellers do an incomplete job of describing the fuse specs; no mention about its response speed.

I would prefer to get another ceramic, but I guess glass would be OK even though it may not be as durable to mechanical shock and have an unpredictable breakdown behavior.

The Operating Manual (pg63) says to replace with an identical fuse "1A H 240V, 6x25mm (CE)". No mention about using a fast acting fuse, but text molded into the case back says to "Use Quick Acting Fuses".

Could someone point me to a source where I can get replacement fuses?

BS1362 fuses are readily found (and cheap) in 1A, 3A, 5A, 10A and 13A sizes on UK sites under the name "domestic fuses". Avoid the overly cheap ones but you can get a 15 pack of bussman BS1362 fuses for £8 (~$10US) which gives you 3 of each kind.

Changing a fuse holders to compatible to the most available type of fuses in your location is not an option?

Searched AMAZON.COM.UK and yes I can get a package of 10 1A 250V BS1632 (6x25mm) fuses for GBP 2.07, however, the listing makes no mention of fuse breakdown speed. Unfortunately shipping to US is an additional GBP 19.95.

I can find a local source in US for BS1362 (6x25mm) fuses 2A and greater, the 1A are impossible to find.

I found I could order them from AliExpress; package of 10 for $1.20 with free shipping. However, it ships from China and I will have to wait 2-3 weeks for delivery.

I suspect British Standard #1632 might. Unfortunately, it's expensive to read.

It doesn't really matter though. All you need is a fuse that meets the standard.

Put a glass fuse in for a couple of weeks and be careful.

First reaction to your post. You have got to be kidding, but after giving your suggestion some thought and taking a peek at the fuse holder in the UNI-T61E, the suggestion has merit.

It appears there is already a provision "baked in" to the PCB to locate one of the fuse holders to accommodate longer fuses (See attachment). I can find 6x30mm ceramic fuse locally, it is the 6x25mm that are difficult to find.

I modified mine to take the large fuses (which I subsequently ordered from China). Its easy but you should probably not try to reuse the old fuse holders and use new ones. The models sold in the EU come with the large fuses.

...or just get a 10-pack from eBay. 

I'm sure they won't disappoint and you'll have enough for the rest of your life.

The assumption that Uni-T uses magic, high-quality fuses probably isn't a safe one. Changing the fuse holders, etc., might alter the calibration

Dredging up old thread...anyone replaced their UT61E 10A fuse with 10x38mm fuses as in Joe Smiths video?   I'm looking at the 10x38 fuse clips and they are 10mm pin pitch...which won't fit the UT61E PCB.

If anyone has insights....info appreciated.
