RigExpert REAMP Power Consumption Logger
(1/1)
Dave_g8:
As a possible alternative to the Nordic PPK2, I purchased a RigExpert REAMP for evaluation.
Overview:
For anyone experimenting with MCUs and low power IoT devices, the REAMP is a great little product. It allows dynamic measurement of device currents from µA’s up to 1000mA. The output voltage is configurable from 1.8V to 5.2V and as well as monitoring the load current it has two voltage monitoring inputs. The built in Li-ion battery avoids the use of two USB power sources for load currents greater than 500mA. The unit also has a SYNC output and TRIG input to allow synchronisation with the target device.
At the current price of $70 (£60 in the UK) it is really good value.

Brief comparison with Nordic PPK2:
Notes
The current resolution for the REAMP is not specified, but practical measurements indicate that it is less than 0.2uA on the 10uA and 100uA ranges, increasing to 300uA on the 1A range.
The burden voltage is the theoretical maximum and in practice will depend on more factors, including test connections.
Example captures are shown below.
UNI-T UT60BT DMM (Bluetooth Enabled)
ESP8266 MCU
A few images of the REAMP are shown below.

Where did you buy it from out of interest? I took a brief look but the UK agents listed on RigExpert's site didn't show it on their respective sites.
Dave_g8:
Hi,
I purchased it from Moonraker, but unfortunately I see they are currently out of stock.
