Have experience with www.rigoloscilloscope.com.au?

Hi, I am currently in the market for a cheap DSO, and have run into the merchant www.rigoloscilloscope.com.au
They are selling oscilloscopes at exceptional prices (I have my eyes on the Hantek DSO5072P at $309 AUD) but I am getting some suspicious vibes from the website.

I am running a tight budget at the moment ($400) and my old analogue scope (B.W.D 511) has unfortunately become unusable.

Does anyone have any experience with this merchant?

Have a look at the bottom of the page, appear's to be based in China.
you would be wise to stick with a local distributor if at all possible.

Emona is cheaper than them on the Rigol DS-1054z.

Unfortunately the DS-1054z is a bit out of budget - I'd have to beg my parents

Unfortunately I am not versed in the Hantek stuff, but there are plenty of member's that are, not sure about local distributors. Rumour has it that Siglent are not far off releasing a new budget range, so if your not in a hurry then they might be worth a look.

As dom0 mentioned, it is based in PRC.
I had a quick look on their German site some weeks ago:

That the german translation is some times worth a  is no Problem.
My Problem with those shops: They create the impression that they are based in the given country.
As a client you don't expect the goods coming from abroad and there for you don't expect you have to pay customs and or other taxes.
A good online shop has an impressed were it clearly states its origin as well as the fact that customs and taxes might apply.

The .com.au I can't open right now, but I have a nice one from the german one:
Under Shipping and Return (translated from German) you find:
"...Weiterhin können Sie die Bestellung natürlich auch persönlich bei uns abholen. In diesem Fall sprechen Sie den Besuch bitte vorher mit unserem Support ab, da wir kein Ladengeschäft führen..."
Which is (roughly) translated to english:
"... Additionally you can personally pick up your order from us. In this case please arrange a visit with our support as we don't have a public shop..."
Actually a nice Idea to do a travel to Shanghai to pick some T&ME

In one of my earliest posts on this forum I made mention of one of the most horrendous transactions one could imagine, hereby referred to as the "Hobby King Horror". One day when I fully recover from the torment I may decide to reveal the full story but for now here's a brief preview.

Ordered from Hobby King Australia, yes people Australia, a Turnigy Tx / Rx unit plus two servos, total price $72.00, the servos arrived as ordered but the Turnigy did not, HK would not respond to any emails or correspondence so I went back onto their site and they had removed the Turnigy from the original order without notification or explanation, fortunately I had previously saved a copy of it.

Opened a claim with Paypal and shortly after HK then sent me an email saying that I needed to remove the Paypal intervention to resolve the issue, told them in plain English to fuck off, I was fully aware that if the claim was withdrawn then it could not be re-implemented again by Paypal.

The servos had been sent from Sydney yet to resolve the whole thing and get a full refund I was required by Paypal to send the servos back to China with registered post, three weeks after sending back the servos they were returned to me with a note from China Mail indicating that no such address existed yet it was the address that Hobby King had provided to Paypal and then relayed to myself. This whole debacle went on for 3 months, I have it fully documented and Hobby King are disgusting parasites and Paypal are incompetent morons.

So enough for now, buyer beware.

I did try! I have $400 saved, so I asked for a $200 loan to pay the extra, and it worked 
so looks like I might visit Emona Instruments sometime next week.
The problem with asking my parents for this kind of thing is that they do not understand the use of an oscilloscope, and thus find it hard to warrant me paying $600

Very good my friend and its great you negotiated it as a loan. Do not think your parents are greedy and want their money back. Likely they just want you to develop financial discipline skills. Believe me, you will need it in life. Given you managed to save $400, you are already doing well.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH RIGOLOSILLOSCOPE.COM.AU

I have just spent the last month trying to get refunded for a faulty scope I purchased from them.

I stupidly assumed I was dealing with an Australian Business, I even emailed them and got responses from a guy calling himself Stefan (later found out his actual name is Zhu Jun) but as we all know .com.au doesn't mean you have anything to do with Australia, just that you have "borrowed" someones ACN, in this case a company called Golden Triumph Pty Ltd.

So after waiting for 2 weeks the unit arrived on my doorstep, with a bashed up box. Opened it up and plugged it in Gray Screen! 

Contacted the seller, he requested I post it back claiming he will refund the unit cost and my postage costs. He then ignores my emails, but luckily I used PayPal to purchase it so started a claim and that got a refund but only for the unit cost, I'm still down $95 on the postage. Sent numerous emails and Paypal invoces - all ignored.

Its a shame that the .com.au TLD is not better policed to ensure only legitimate businesses can own this domain - but you live an learn.

Unfortunately she asked me for $600 to buy a playstation...  I said no...
