Rigol North America Black Friday sale on DHO1000 series
« on: November 20, 2023, 08:31:31 pm »
Hi All,

Rigol NA is having a Black Friday sale on their DSO1000 series digital scopes.

Everything is 40% OFF except the DHO1072 which is only 25% off.

Link here:  https://www.rigolna.com/dho1000-black-friday/

Black Friday sale prices are good from November 20th until December 4th.

Given how hackable they are this is an excellent deal, IMHO.

Enjoy.

- George

We already had this in a thread.
Rigol.eu does it differently, yesterday you could buy the 1074 for 700€, now:

I´ve meant the amazon link.
For a few days including yesterday it was 40% off, so I thought it was already the promo.
But it´s for selling the "old" HDO.

620 GBP for a DHO1074 on amazon UK. Not in the market for a scope and haven't tracked Rigol prices since I sold my 1054Z to upgrade to a RTB2004, but this sounds v. cheap.

Has anyone actually pushed the button and purchased one yet?

I'm curious as to what is actually being delivered under this promotion; HDO badged stock (as per Martin72's conjecture, and consistent with the images in the UK Amazon listing) or DHO (as per the Amazon UK item description).

I´m pretty sure that you´ll get a HDO when pulling the trigger on amazon.

They're much cheaper in Spain than in Germany - 712 Euros instead of 832.  :)

(Yes, that's with 21% tax, if you're VAT registered you could get one for 588 Euros)

I don't think they'll sell many HDO1072s...

As you can see from your picture, these are almost all the "old" HDO models.
From next Friday you will have the DHO for 40% less.
And if I needed a scope, I would sell the DHO804 and get rid of it easily, add some money and buy the 1074 for around 700€.
Hacking bandwidth to 200Mhz and memory to 100Mpts is also child's play with it and then only spend 700 on it...

I did order one from the RigolNA.com website.  Everything there is DHO.

I'm in the USA, so I focused on what the rigolna.com website had to offer.  I did look around and found that tequipment.net has the DHO1000 series on a Black Friday sale as well.

Look at the bottom of the page.

OK, that's even cheaper... $599 for a HDO1074? Grab them while you can!

Cheaper that that from Saelig if you apply their EEVBLOG promotional discount. :)

Have you tried it (experimentally)?
With such a discount, I can hardly imagine that you can still use the other one.

Canadian price is even better, 791 or $577 USD. Though our taxes are higher.

Why would DHO vs HDO matter, its just a sticker no? But yeah, told people to not buy a DHO900..

There don't seem to be many YT reviews on the DHO series other than the (obvious) 800.  I'm assuming the DHO1204 is a good machine for $1020 USD?

The DHO1074 for $599 hacked to a DHO1204 is an even better deal.

Exactly, only a sticker, nothing else so no worries to grab one.
And yes, the current offer makes the dho900 look a bit silly.

The DHO900S can do Bode plots. That is something the DHO1000 cannot do.

That would really only be a point if someone needs Bodeplot.
Otherwise, everything speaks in favor of a DHO1000.
More memory, more sample rate, hi-res mode, larger screen, higher screen resolution...

Really temping with the added Saelig discount code. $563 before sales tax, including shipping, for the DHO1074.

Other than the 10.1" screen (which is a big deal by itself) can someone remind me what are the main improvements over the DHO800/900 series? Is it mainly just the 100Mpts upgrade capability?

I was watching the DHO800/900 release with some interest, but was really holding out for Siglent's entry into that space. With this deal though, I'm awfully tempted.

Yes, Rigol needs to get off their asses and copy siglents implementation: https://siglentna.com/application-note/bode-plot-filter-oscilloscope-generator/ But worst case you can write a short script to do this, with the sig gen of your choice.
They might be clearing out the DHO1000 for a new model, with built in AWG, but its never going to be that great compared to a standalone product.

See what martin said above, 2GS/s vs 1.25.

Yeah if you mean the post above mine, he posted while I was writing mine, so didn't see it until after.

Also just saw 2N3055's post over in this thread that points out:

DHO800 undersamples at 4 ch enabled. It's screen is tiny.
If I personally would have to chose between DHO800 and DHO1000 at that price difference I would certainly get the 1000.

Just screen size is huge difference in usability. Better sampling helps a lot. 1000 has more memory. Better time base accuracy and stability. It has Hires Mode. 1000 has specification for EXT trigger jitter.
As for analytic functions, they are both pretty much equal. 100 can show 14 measurements instead of 10. If unhacked both, 1000 has few more protocol decodes.. It will have better specs connected with sampling speed. For instance faster detection in peak mode. It will have more Wfms/s. It has propper  power supply. Etc....
It is a better scope in many details.

Download datasheets and compare. If difference is worth the money for you is up to you to decide.

I'm about a mm away from pulling this trigger...

Rob, you need to get over here and convince me that us NA customers are going to see a similar BF deal from Siglent, stat!

The new Siglent will probably be better than the Rigols, but it's not there yet.
I have the DHO804 here, next to my SDS2504X HD.
I like it.
But the DHO/HDO 1000 is simply a class above and if you can currently get it for under 600...go for it.
And when the new siglent comes out at some point, you will certainly be able to get rid of the DHO1074 you have purchased now without much loss.
