Rob, you need to get over here and convince me that us NA customers are going to see a similar BF deal from Siglent, stat!
https://siglentna.com/products/clearance/

I have no idea what NA are doing for BF deals but I suggest you also have a hunt in their Amazon store.

The DHO1074 for $599 hacked to a DHO1204 is an even better deal.

Maybe.  But I don't know how to hack it and I would just end up ruining it and ending up with a dead piece of electronics.

Nothing to compare, yet. As Martin said, if/when the new Siglent comes out that competes on features and price point, I can always sell this one and buy it. Probably won't lose much if anything on the sale either, as this deal is $435 off MSRP. I'll just need to sell it when there's not a similar sale going on. :D

+1, just purchased mine from Amazon UK as I've been dithering on it this past week and they are now down to just 1 item left in stock.

620GBP with sales tax, so ~646USD or 593EUR without.  Not as good as Veteran68 (kudos, great deal, see you in the hacking thread at the weekend  :)) but not awful and likely better than purchasing direct from Rigol EU tomorrow as I'd get hit with additional shipping charges and possibly customs duty collection fees too being outside the EU.

Didn't need it but could no longer resist at this pricing.  My original intention was to go with the MSO5k and supplement with a DHO800 when they became available.  Will probably have a good play with it over the Christmas holiday season, which will decide whether it has a place on my bench full time or gets put on that well known auction site.  I'm very happy with the 5k, BTW.

I messaged Rigol on Amazon prior to purchase and: "Hello, our stock in the UK are all the latest machines, you will receive the machine with DHO logo, HDO is the old logo for this series. Thanks"

The Amazon deal includes an official memory upgrade license, so just the bandwidth to "enhance".

I bought the DHO1074.  I had been eyeing the 800 series.  But the main attractions to me of the 1000 series are the easy "upgradeability" to a 1204 and the larger 10.1" screen.  Being a hobbyist, bode plot was not a consideration.  And, well, 40% off  is a healthy amount of savings.

Also as others have said:

DHO800 - Max BW 100 MHz; 1.25Gsps 25Mpts; 7" 1024×600
DHO1000 - Max BW 200 MHz; 2Gsps 50/100Mpts; 10.1" 1280×800

Plus higher waveform update rates, 10 MHz reference input/output, optical encoders on the front panel, defined jitter spec, CAN & LIN decoders...

And probably internal 50 Ohm input paths, inherited from the DHO4000 platform, which may however never be unlockable.

The only mild concern that I had w.r.t investing in the 1000 vs 800 is that I'm forming the opinion that this Black Friday offer is something of a fire sale for the 1000 series.

I'm beginning to suspect that Rigol will discontinue the original DHO1000 series, given that:
  • Their product management seem to be struggling to properly define and differentiate the value proposition and use-case for all of the current product line members
  • Sales of the 1000 probably haven't been stellar historically and likely took a real beating with the release of the 800 and 900
  • The 1000U has just been announced in China, with slimmed down specs, hardware and price
  • Amazon UK now list the 1074 as "Currently Unavailable", as opposed to temporarily out of stock.  Which could be interpreted in a number of ways.  One might be that Rigol aren't allowing them to accept back orders of discounted stock but another could be that there isn't expected to be anymore stock post the Black Friday sale.
  • Rigol aren't just "dumping" old HDO-badged stock.  This sale, at least in the UK (and by appearances, the US too) is for current DHO stock

If I'm right, I'm still not hugely concerned hence purchasing a DHO1074 anyway.  There's enough commonality in the software to have good reason to believe that enhancements and fixes will continue to come for some time yet, off the back of continued development of the 800/900/1000U/4000.

For the money you've spent on it now, the 1000 is a very good decision, regardless of its future.

I'm guessing Saelig had a run on them. Wonder how many were eevBlog members, LOL. Good thing I'm in no hurry, I guess.

Hello David,

Thank you for your order.  At this time, the DHO1074 is currently out of stock.  We will get this item on order for you.  It typically takes a week or two to come in as some vendors are only shipping orders out once a week.  As soon as we have the product back in stock, we will ship your order out to you.  We do apologize for this inconvenience and delay.

Hey, I just discovered another DHO1000 advantage over the 800: The Horizontal controls include a dedicated Zoom button -- so pushing the timebase selector can remain dedicated to the vernier function, as it should be in a sane oscilloscope.  ;)

Yeah, it's a small thing, but I like it...

Just pulled the trigger on a ‘Black Friday special’ DHO1074! Very exciting for me. This will be replacing my DS1052E that I got in 2010 based on Dave's review in his first video. Should be quite an upgrade.

Is the hacking really that simple to do? Do you have more info about that? Don't you lose warranty?

Yes.

Do you have more info about that?

Just read the hacking thread, use the search function to find it.

Don't you lose warranty?

Probably not if you deinstall the options before giving the unit away for servicing.

All you're doing is generating a license code and entering it, exactly as if you bought the code from Rigol.

Licenses can also be removed without trace.

They will certainly be able to record system accesses.

Just bought a DSO1204 off of the Rigol Amazon store. Wanted 4 350MHz probes. I used up a $350.00 gift card and some extra cash so out of my pocket it was a little over $700.00 so quite a deal I believe.

It looks like the Rigol MSO models are on sale there too, but I was looking for a 12bit scope for low level work as I have a HP 54642A MSO for digilog debug use.

Too bad they didn't make a MSO option for the DSO1204. Not a biggie at the moment. I'll use this one for a few years until the next black friday sale comes along.

Now I have a Rigol DS1054 in new condition, still in the box that I hacked to 100MHz that I have to decide what to do with. I bought it as a fall back scope, Maybe that will become my summer place scope.

You really think the repair techs are going to do forensic analysis of the SD cards?

Paying more than $400 extra vs. the DHO1074 just to get the four 350 MHz probes is not a good deal, since the PVP2350 probes can be bought for less than $50 each from Rigol NA. But you also have a "fully legal" 200 MHz scope now, which might give you some peace of mind.
