Title: RIGOL DG1022U Function/Arbitrary waveform generator
Post by: sammyhwang on December 11, 2013, 08:49:52 am
RIGOL DG1022U Function/Arbitrary waveform generator.

I was going to pick up the Rigol DS1052D oscilloscope Dave recommended. But the shop had all sorts of Rigol stuff. I was aiming to buy a function generator but the ones at the shop were either too expensive or crap.

(Pictures Attached below)

What do you think? Anyone have one? It's a black and white dot matric LCD backlit by some blue leds.
Is it a good buy? They are selling it for 250$. Yeah a bit expensive but at least its not some one hung low brand.

I like the dot matrix display and nice rugged feel. (sort of)

Is it too expensive for what it does? Any other suggestions? I won't really use Arbitrary that much but considering this price range Arbitrary would be nice.

Here is a link to a user review:

- seems like there are variations of this product (1022, 1022A, 1022U) and they might have various reputations, especially for reliabity and support

Seems like it might be a reasonable value (ok to good but not fantastic) depending on the working and cosmetic condition but guys here like to get stuff on a deal - you only get oohs and ahhs here if you score something on a big discount or preferrably for free or near free.

Someone here here will have some more distinct opinions on this (or possibly some alternatives) shortly, no doubt.

I'd say for a Rigol (generally good to very good) and for the features and specs it should be a reasonably good value if the particular unit works well and keeps working well (a little hard to predict, of course)

For a mid/beginner like me what would you suggest? This or the one dave recommended? (I think that one doesn't have good price to features/quality even)

I won't really need arbitrary functions... for now. Maybe in the future?  :-//

Or does this have too much functions I don't need  :-\

This is actually 50 bucks cheaper than my oscilloscope

Thanks I think I'm gonna get it. By the way, just out of thought, how much did you purchase your  DS1052E at? @TheSolderShack

Last month I ordered a DG1022A from Rigol UK but it is currently out of stock. They made a rather vague claim that the model I ordered has been superseded without telling me what the new model number is supposed to be?!
