Rigol DG1022Z Function Generator Hack
dublindevil:
I recently purchased the Rigol DG1022Z function generator. It has a bandwith of 25MHz and so far, it has worked perfectly for my needs. Mostly out of curiosity, is there a hack to upgrade the bandwidth on the generator up to the 60MHz of the 1000$ 1062Z?
Here is the listing on the rigol site:

I wondered the same thing. I have a DG4062 and a DG1022Z, apart from a few button differences and the fact that the DG1022Z screen is about 1/4 the size of the DG4062, the functionality is almost identical between them.
That makes me wonder if Bandgap's work here https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/dg4000-a-firmware-investigation/100/ is relevant? Perhaps someone could try to insert the DG1022Z model and serial number and see if the compile works? When I tried this for my 4062, I could not make the online compiler work.
Perhaps we could ask Bandgap to get involved?
Having said that, as far as I can tell, all you would gain is higher frequency sine waves and a deeper AWG memory, I haven't needed either yet.

You can hack the DG1022Z to 1062Z the same way a DP832 can be upgraded to DP832A
You need to enter telnet command and have a USB flash driver with a file on it
I used the Rigol Bildschirmkopie Tool to do so, but CMD works as well with telnet
http://peter.dreisiebner.at/rigol-bildschirmkopie/index.htm
I tried Bildschirmkopie only via Network, maybe someone makes it work with USB, but this needs correct IVI drivers to send commands
Step 1
Activate Telnet in your windows features and restart PC
Step 2
connect the function generator to the network
check if connection is good with ping
also a firewall may cause problems even with ping working, the DG1022Z I could only get sent SCPI commands on a very old standalone PC in my basement shop
step 3
get a FAT formatted USB stick and write the keyfile.bin in the main directory

Step 4 with Bildschirmkopie
- start it
- ctrl+E to do a search on the network and connect the Rigol device
- search for devices and choose the one you want to unlock
- open SCPI commands
- check device signature
- send SCPI command with new Model name
- reboot device and check again device signature
step 4 with cmd
- start telnet
telnet [IP_Address] 5555
- same commands as with Bildschirmkopie to write new device number

I got this to work using telnet commands, it's explained here for the DP832 and DG1022Z
