R&S FSEM30... any service manual or Block diagrams?
« on: August 23, 2022, 03:22:31 pm »
Howdy folks,
I have acquired a lovely R&S FSEM30 which was working well up until it just decided to fail a self test (fail fast measurement RAM).

Does anyone know where I might get a service manual?
Perhaps there is some other model which is very close?

Thanks !!!

I think the FSEA (3.5 GHz) and FSEB (7 GHz) will be very similar except for the RF section, so this may help:

Dear switchabl, you are correct... I have downloaded and started fault-finding....
I may open a new repair thread on this one, it's a digital problem and I'm more comfortable with RF.

Thanks again sir!

Hi Tracker,

I am also the proud owner of an FSEM 30 that just started exhibiting a similar error:

"STEST aborted: Test of fast meas RAM, state 46"

This occurred, possibly coincidentally, after I moved the analyser from one location to another.

Did you ever effect a successful repair?  If not, I'm in the process of starting my repair journey and am happy to share my progress...

There is a post on the Rohde and Schwarz groups.io forum that identifies "Fast" RAM on the Detector card:

https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/rs-fsem30-any-service-manual-or-block-diagrams/

My symptoms are different to the post author's, in that my FSEM 30 does not fail on POST.  Before I get too excited, I'm going to verify the level and quality of all the power supply rails before attempting to replace any RAM ICs...
