Just saw  there's a new firmware for our DHOs:

Release notes:

1. Solve the problem of vertical gear adjustment disappearing.
2. Solve the problem of Math module filter operation saving screen waveform in. csv file format and program controlled acquisition being empty.
3. DHO800 adds 5M storage depth.
4. Resolve the issue of channel 4 triggering status not being remembered when loading the last value.
5. Increase screen brightness adjustment function.
6. Solve the problem of auto failure when the instrument is connected to a self checking square wave and in a state above 2x gears.
7. Solve the problem of eliminating burrs in adjusting the time base waveform during waveform recording and playback.
8. Support modifying measurement items after opening the measurement module.
9. Add SMB network storage function.
10. Solve the problem of SPI decoding failure in digital channels.
11. Solve the problem of AX and BX following changes when the tracking cursor changes in time base.
12. Solve the problem of unstable triggering of 2Hz triangular wave input in 100ms non rolling mode.
13. Resolve the issue of inconsistency between webcontrol resolution and instrument screen.
14. Add quick on/off function.
15. Solve the problem of video triggering function not functioning properly.
16. Solve the problem of small sparrow RS232 triggering not being able to be triggered at low baud rates.
17. Resolve multilingual translation errors.

Just powered on my DHO800 and the firmware appeared in the menu automatically (over WiFi).

I still have 100M bandwidth option but the 50M memory option isn't there. The release notes mentions "5M memory" on a DHO800 and I have 5M with all four channels enabled.

Maybe they changed something in the memory code in the firmware or maybe my licenses are messed up with all my hacking, I'm not sure. I'll check out the licenses later.

I can confirm that the serial decoder threshold level with 10x probe settings is fixed even though the release notes don't mention it.

Power off has a new "sleep" mode.

When it's asleep it wakes up in about 25 seconds.

Not amazing, but a lot faster than the usual 60 seconds or so it takes to power on.

Setup has a new screen brightness function.

The web interface now uses correct pixel scale for the screen size (yay!) but still opens a window which is a bit too small so the scroll bars are visible ( )

Is this new? I don't recall seeing it before.

There's a self-test mode that lets you test all the knobs and buttons on the front panel.



The buttons light up when you press them and the value above the encoders change when you twist them.

It still doesn't remember the zoom/vernier setting for when you push the timebase button. You have to set it to zoom every time you power on/wake up if that's what you want it to do.

One of my biggest peeves.

The vertical zoom in STOP mode now stops zooming in after six clicks of the vertical scale knob. This means the measurements always match the displayed waveform.

I assume that's what bug #1 refers to.

(it used to keep zooming the waveform after the screen scale numbers stopped changing)

I found SMB settings in the storage menu but I haven't figured out how to make it work yet:

No change so far. The 50M memory option never showed in options screen on my DHO804 with 50M enabled via SCPI, too. But if you try to set the memory deep you see the 50M option.

I only saw 25M in the settings.

As noted though, I need to re-check what files are in my license folder.

OK, I fiddled around a bit and my license files definitely aren't working.

I had 100Mhz bandwidth earlier because I was using vendor.bin for a DHO814.

I can make the 'scope into a DHO914 and get 125Mhz/50M, no problem, but the 100Mhz bandwidth is the sweet spot IMHO.

I also tried puting in my original Key.data. The scope upgraded it to RKey.data just like firmware 1.02 but no joy. In DHO800 mode my memory is 25M/10M/5M depending on number of channels.

The memory upgrade option has also disappeared from the "Options" screen.


Have they removed it completely or do we just need a new key generator? I'll leave that in the hands of the hackers...

I checked the "flat_top" FFT table but it hasn't changed, it's the same as firmware 1.02.

Be aware that the Extended UI is only compatible with the 00.01.02 firmware version. Now there is also a version compatible with the 00.01.04 firmware

I don't think so. All the measurements, etc., look the same to me.

Have any firmware updates solved the problem with the "Bode Plot" function that I reported in October, 2023 ?

Could you als please take a look at the FFT app? With new firmware it is not working anymore. It gives a connect error (remote execute error) and displays the signal wave
