I think you have a slightly faulty screen.

Good evening. I tried to update from a flash drive - it doesn't want to. When you select "Upgrade" it says that the required file is missing. When updating via "Storage" it says execution failure. I tried different flash drives, Fat32. What's the problem? How else can you update?

Hurry up. I forgot that the root should be a file, not a folder. Updated. Thank you for your response.

I think you have a slightly faulty screen.

I don't think so, because it does only appear after long sleep time. When the scope boots (or reboots) normally, everything works fine. And until FW 1.04 the wakeup after sleep mode was normal, too.

Little bit strange. Seems like no one else has seen this at his scope.

@RogerG

Have you tried downgrading to an earlier firmware version to confirm the effect doesn't show up there?

Attention !  the zip folder is zipped twice. After the first expansion, Windows still indicates that the folder is compressed, so it must be unzipped twice, only then Windows will say that it is a normal folder.  Do not try to install the firmware from a one-time unzipped folder, it may cause serious damage!
Ps: this happens from firmware downloaded from rigolna

Black Friday? Last year it was the DHO1000 series which got discounted (temporarily) by 40% or so.

It was the same last year, if I recall correctly. I was half-expecting that Rigol were emptying the shelves in preparation for a DHO1000 successor (with logic analyser and signal generator options), but nothing materialized. I would not expect a successor for the DHO800/900 anytime soon.

I agree with the previous answer - it looks like the problem is in the display or its interface. The symptoms are similar to the LCD pixels being left under constant voltage after the display refresh is disabled.

There is no standby mode in earlier versions :)

The oscilloscope is updated directly from this double-packed archive, nothing needs to be unpacked. Unless you want to extract a separate file from the update and update it manually.

It was already in the 1.03.06. Also this is not real standby, because CPU still works in this mode.

This version can be said to have never existed. It was removed almost immediately after its release and this one was released instead 00.01.04.00.02

The oscilloscope is updated directly from this double-packed archive, nothing needs to be unpacked. Unless you want to extract a separate file from the update and update it manually.

I wanted to respect the instructions attached to the firmware:
1. Copy the upgrade file DHO800_DHO900_Update.GEL to the root directory of the USB disk.

I didn't know that the scope could unzip the double zip by itself.

However, I don't understand why on the USA Rigol site, the firmware is zipped only once

Ah, I thought you were talking about the .GEL file, which is a double-packed archive, with the same name. Yes, the initially downloaded .zip update archive certainly needs to be unpacked.
And the archive downloaded from rigol.com is compressed once, as standard.

It's not "double zipped".

There's a file called "DHO800_900 Upgrade Instructions.txt" inside the .zip file, maybe you could read it...  :-//

I downloaded the firmware from rigolna. com (maybe you download from rigol.com? ).
In the file named DHO 800_900 Upgrade instruction.txt no information has been written on how to unzip the .zip folder.
The fact is that Rigolna provides a twice zipped folder.
I'm not the one saying this, Windows (10/11) tells you because it writes it next to the folder.  Only after the second unzip does the wording compressed folder disappear.
At the moment only Rigolna.com provides the new firmware, Rigol.com still provides 1.02 this morning

I installed the new Firmware version 1.04. Not only has the firmware changed, but the "build" has also changed which is now "2024/10/30 11:25:15".
Previously my firmware was 1.03 (00.06) and the Build was 2024/08/01 10:15:55.
At the first test the oscilloscope seems improved in many points. It is certainly stable in operation.
The self-calibration function does not seem to have been shortened in its execution time, in fact it lasted over 26 minutes for me (and before, even if I hadn't timed it it seemed to me to be just over 20 minutes). This self-calibration function gave me better centering of the trace at zero level and almost halved noise values.
The FFT seems very good, knowing how to choose all the parameters accurately.
Below is an FFT of the square wave provided by the internal generator at 10KHZ, with 100K acquisition and AVG 8 samples. The result is decidedly good

The firmware download from rigolna.com is essentially a disaster.  This should not be a surprise, though.

The file downloaded is "DHO800_DHO900(Software)UpdateV00.01.04.00.02.zip"

Unzip that and get a file named "DHO800_DHO900(Software)Update00.01.04.00.02.zip"

Unzip that and get a folder named "source_DHO800_DHO900(Software)Update00.01.04.00.02"

Inside that folder is another folder named "DHO800_DHO900(Software)Update00.01.04.00.02"

Inside that folder you'll finally find the files.
