Fungus, has the latest firmware 00.01.04.00.02 fixed your scope?

My old 804 rebranded to 824 after firmware update and vendor mod. Attaching my label design for those that might want to use it.
All works fine following successful calibration and short test. Also a good thing is the 2ns/div time range in 824 model.

A bit off topic, but does your screen usually attract that much lint? How about fingerprints?

I'm thinking of either getting this scope or the Siglent sds804x hd.

Depends how you use it. If you like using touchscreen capability, then you're gonna end up with a lot of fingerprints (you can also use capacitive stylus).
If you don't clean it too often it will get dirty... like mine....
You can use buttons/knobs to control it... or connect mouse... Interface gives you quite a lot of use options. Of course, I'm not discussing the UI usability, that's subjective.
And you could connect external bigger touchscreen if you like. Hope this helps, there is plenty YT video presenting this device anyway.
Good luck.

You can stick a matte film for tablets on the screen. I bought the so-called hydrogel (whatever that means) matte film and it became just wonderful - no glare, no fingerprints, and the finger began to slide on the screen more softly and smoothly :)

Did they replace your oscilloscope?

I updated my DHO914S,  I see that after updating I lost my limited 250MHz BW.
Not really a big loss I expected it to be gone any moment anyway.

The calibration file cal_vertical.hex is now 3.5 times as big: from 201kB to 701kB  (after required calibration)
(I also have one of 526kB in the default folder, before it was also 201kB)

BTW I also noticed that the option to update online was available (red dot on the R menu icon), I didn't do that, I did it from USB.

The only thing that makes your 'scope unique is the vendor.bin and Key.dat files in /rigol/data.

After the update of my DHO914S the name and content of the key file changed.
before: Key.data     after: RKey.data
Both are still 148 Bytes

vendor.bin didn't change.

Yes. Recent firmwares "upgrade" your Key.date file for you. If you want to install older firmwares you have to put back the original Key.date.

If your 'scope is new and you don't have a Key.data then make a backup of RKey.data + vendor.bin.

...or just copy the whole of /rigol: adb pull /rigol/.

Point of this post: With those two files you can always manage to create a working SD card - there's card images out there and the only difference is two files.

It looks like you had a very old firmware. The RKey.data file appeared in the February update of this year :)

I am actually not sure whether I am laughing at the "speed up the fw improvements" or at the "reading this" bit.  ::)

Maybe the 1.04 is even the final version...
I wouldn't bet if 2025 there will be a newer fw.

Yep, with the current discounts the chance is almost nil.. Looks like they free up their shelves for the upcoming DHO600/DHO700 series..  >:D >:D

Rigol makes some fun toys for playing around with.  I have a few of their things now, all bought from the clearance rack with free shipping.  Low-end models liberated to high end.  They seem to want me to do that, so I oblige.

I think you have a slightly faulty screen.

I don't think so, because it does only appear after long sleep time. When the scope boots (or reboots) normally, everything works fine. And until FW 1.04 the wakeup after sleep mode was normal, too.

Little bit strange. Seems like no one else has seen this at his scope.
I have the exact same issue. There was this moir pattern around the screen edges after exiting Sleep mode which eventually went away. The other time I actually had vertical streaking in left half of the display that also went away after a few minutes. Almost as if there's still constant voltage applied to the pixels when scope in standby... I do have concerns this might damage the display.

Thank you for your experience. Standby seems to be a serious problem for the TFT, so I dont use that anymore.

Not yet, since it was only yesterday that I've discovered it because I haven't really used the sleep function much before and did not leave the scope in standby for a long time. Came here to check if anybody else has that, was glad to learn I'm not alone. My first time buying a Rigol product so I'm not sure what to expect from their customer support.

I do not know where you live actually, but normally you have to expect the maximum..

If the people complain here at eevblog about Rigol's/Siglent's/XYZ's products and services absolutely nothing will happen. If you want the products and services get better you have to create a push such it comes to an improvement.

You have to expect and require best services and products always.

Canada, but I am used to having generally low expectations, especially from Chinese companies ;)
We're going to see what Rigol has to say about this. At least they were quick to pull that botched XY mode update off their website once they confirmed it has the potential to brick scopes.

You have to tell the Rigol first. Then the Rigol will tell to you.
Do not expect something happens automatically. The quality of products and services depends on You and your behavior. You are the Market. This is important to understand..

Oh, absolutely. What I meant is that I'm waiting for a response from their tech support, I was checking this board to make sure I'm not alone with the issue =)

And you? Did you escalate to Rigol?

No.

But I went back temporarily to 1.03. It didn't happen with 1.03. After re-updating to 1.04 it was reproducable again. So it depends from the 1.04.
