Problems with USB oscilloscope trigger
« on: July 05, 2023, 12:20:21 pm »
Hello everyone.
Recently I acquired a USB oscilloscope (Hantek 6022BE) and it has been giving me quite a few problems, namely with the trigger. I have attached a video in which the problem can be seen:
https://youtu.be/Ce1RPKmSjQI

This is not an ongoing situation, meaning, sometimes it works just fine and some other times it does this. The problem is that I don't know what causes it to malfunction: is the hardware broken? is it a problem with the software? etc.

The only thing that I can think of to solve this issue is to install an alternative firmware. Has anyone had any success with this approach?

Thanks in advance.

Does it happening have any correlation to when the laptop is running on battery and mains isolated vs not?
Laptop can be a bit weird when it comes to earthing, which may mess up triggering.

Also, if your laptop is charging vs not it may have an effect as well.

Where is your horizontal trigger point?

Where is your horizontal trigger point?

I don't think this oscilloscope has a horizontal trigger point. I can however drag the signal wherever I want to.

It should (they all do…). Drag the trace left or right until you see it on the upper edge of the screen, then your problem should disapear. Or press “Auto”. This should bring it right in the middle.

Try switching from AUTO to NORM(al) for "Trigger Sweep"

After checking the manual I don't think there is a horizontal position setting. So setting the trigger mode to normal and adjust the trigger level until the signal is stable, may be a good place to start. It could be the auto-trigger re-arm time is too short to trigger when using 500us / div. Remember this is a Hantek...

There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.
