HP 6632 current sinking performance
« on: November 04, 2015, 12:02:46 pm »
Hi

I have been needing a current load for smaller currents. Just something that does 10s of mA well. I have something that does several Amps fine. I was wondering how good these units are at lower currents? Anybody used one at lower currents?

I have a few 6632B's. If you're relying on it to set the load current, you may find the steps a tad coarse, depending on just how precise you need it to be.

If you have a specific requirement I may be able to do a quick test and let you know how it performs.

the current control steps in 1.3mA increments so depending how this falls you might end up at 49.3mA then the next step is 50.6mA for example

also the minimum you can sink seems to be around 24mA

Thanks for the replies.

I watched a YouTube video on them and they sound pretty loud? Maybe it was just the mic auto adjusting because it was really really loud.

The resolution sounds good and they are not much money for what you get.

They are fairly loud, and louder when doing some real work. I've got both A and B in stock, PM me if you're interested.

Easy fix to change out the fan to a quieter, temperature controlled one. See here.  There's some question about the optimal position of the temperature sensor - but mine has worked fine.
