Hi all,
I'm trying to revive an old piece of test equipment. I have a Fluke D800 (similar to the 8020A in general appearance, but without a cap checking feature?)
It has some severe bleeding on the LCD when operated from a 9V battery, or at full power through the DC jack:
However, if I input ~3V into the DC jack instead of using the battery, the display can look almost normal, except that the low battery symbol is also present:
This meter uses the original intersil 429100, from which the ICL7106/7107 were derived. It drives the LCD panel directly from this IC. Any ideas on what the issues could be? If I do have a bad 429100, can I replace it with an ICL7106? The ICL7106 is more available.
Thanks, Ivan
